About Barry Rave

20 Years Inside College Football Recruiting Rooms

For two decades, I evaluated players, built recruiting boards, and participated in scholarship decisions at the college football level.

Now I help families understand how that process actually works before they commit to a program.

Coaching & Recruiting Experience

Over the course of my coaching career, I worked across multiple levels of college football including Division II and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

My experience includes:

• Defensive Coordinator — 6 years
• Special Teams Coordinator — 14 years
• Recruiting Coordinator
• Evaluated every position group
• Worked Division I camps at UCLA Bruins football and Colorado State Rams football

I also coached 6 consecutive AFCA All-Americans from one position group — something extremely rare in college football.

Most parents experience college football recruiting from the outside.

I spent 20 years on the inside.

I evaluated the film.
I helped build the recruiting boards.
I recruited the players.
I sat across from families and delivered the scholarship numbers.

These weren’t processes I observed. They were decisions and conversations I was directly involved in. Over those 20 years, I realized something: most families were trying to navigate a process they had never been allowed to see from the inside.

My Philosophy

I believe families deserve:

• Honest evaluations
• Clear expectations
• Straightforward communication
• A better understanding of scholarship structure and leverage

I don’t sell hype.

I explain how the process actually works

This process can impact your family financially and personally for the next 4-5 years.

My goal is simple:

Help families make informed recruiting and scholarship decisions with a clearer understanding of how college football programs actually operate.
